Rooted in Maltese-Canadian Community
The Maltese community in Toronto has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. The first significant wave of Maltese immigrants arrived after World War I, establishing a vibrant community in the west end of Toronto, particularly in The Junction area on Dundas Street West.
This area, known as "Little Malta," became one of the few Maltese neighborhoods outside of Europe. The community was built on values of mutual support, faith, and charitable giving. Organizations like the Maltese-Canadian Society of Toronto, founded in 1922, laid the groundwork for community solidarity.
